Acne: tea tree oil was found to be as effective against acne as benzoyl peroxide, the most common anti-acne medication. Always use diluted in carrier oil or cream. Mix 1drop in teaspoon moisturiser and apply to acne areas. Avoid contact with eyes.
Anti-inflammatory compounds: which, according to emerging evidence, may be helpful for easing psoriasis symptoms, dry skin, and eczema. Dilute 1 to 2 drops of tea tree oil into a small amount of a carrier oil. Gently apply it to the affected area several times per day.
Dandruff: effective in treating dandruff. Mix 5-10 drops into your regular shampoo.
Dental: may fight germs that cause tooth decay and bad breath. Can drop 1 drop tea tree oil onto your toothbrush before adding toothpaste and brushing, but do not ingest. Spit out and rinse mouth. Use with caution.
Dermatitis and bug bites: may help reduce the severity of dermatitis and bug bites. Use diluted in carrier oil.
Insect repellent: including head lice. Head lice can be treated by applying a mixture of 1-2 tablespoons coconut oil, with 1-2 drops tea tree and 1-2 drops lavender oil. Leave on hair for 15 minutes and wash as normal. Use with caution though, as tea tree can irritate skin.
Natural hand sanitizer: it kills several common bacteria and viruses responsible for causing illness, including E. coli, S. pneumoniae and H. influenza. Make a natural hand sanitizer by mixing 1 cup isopropyl alcohol, ½ cup aloe vera gel and 5-10 drops tea tree oil.
Nail fungus: Tea tree oil has been shown to be effective on toenail fungus, but always use diluted in a carrier oil. Soak feet in bucket of warm water with 5 drops tea tree oil. Mix 1-2 drops tea tree oil with 12 drops carrier oil and apply to effected area.
Underarm odour: antibacterial effects may help control underarm odour related to perspiration.Make your own deodorant by mixing 3Tbsp coconut oil,3 Tbsp shea butter, ¼ cup corn-starch, ¼ cup baking soda, 1 Tbsp bees wax, 10-20 drops tea tree oil or lavender oil.
